Material and Method: 134 from January 2012 2020 were treated with “short-segment pedicle instrumentation” neurosurgery department. Patients a burst fracture single vertebra included. final sample consisted 67 who followed up over years radiographs before after surgery CT scans at follow-up. Results: showed that 60% rated as Denis P1, 35% P2, 5% P3. Screw breakage was observed seven patients, underwent revision surgery. Furthermore, fractured vertebral body’s height improved follow-up stage, an increase witnessed preoperative figure 16.4 mm 25.8 At follow-up, average Cobb angle -11.6° preoperatively, 6.3° operation correction loss 12.1° which severe middle part vertebra. By disc spaces narrowed below above vertebra, no correlation found between clinical outcomes adjacent degeneration. Conclusion: We concluded short-segment instrumentation produced satisfactory long-term fractures. To achieve adequate outcomes, correct management complications evaluation various factors must be focused on.

Sacral Insufficiency Fractures Mimicking Lumbar Spine Pathology

Sacral insufficiency fractures (SIFs) are a common cause of back pain in the elderly. SIFs mimic the symptoms of lumbar spine pathology and so are commonly missed or underdiagnosed. Here we present four cases of missed SIFs that were subsequently identified and treated. One patient was treated as mechanical lower back ache, another patient underwent root block and two patients underwent surgery...

Burst fractures of the lumbar spine in frontal crashes.

BACKGROUND In the United States, major compression and burst type fractures (>20% height loss) of the lumbar spine occur as a result of motor vehicle crashes, despite the improvements in restraint technologies. Lumbar burst fractures typically require an axial compressive load and have been known to occur during a non-horizontal crash event that involve high vertical components of loading. Rece...

Is preoperative occupation related to long-term pain in patients operated for lumbar disc herniation?

Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common cause of back and sciatic pain. When clinical treatment fails, surgery may be indicated in selected patients. Although surgery is effective in most cases, some of these patients may have a poor outcome. Different factors may influence these results and poor adaptation at work is one well-known cause of treatment failure. This study examines 350 patients ...
